Device Registry
A neutral ENS namespace for device identity.
Device Registry provides a simple, human-readable way to name and reference devices on Ethereum — phones, laptops, servers, robots, and other execution environments — without binding them to a specific wallet, vendor, or application.
Built on ENS, the registry makes device identity explicit, composable, and revocable. It defines no behavior and enforces no policy.
The registry exists solely to provide a shared naming layer for devices that execute actions on behalf of humans, organizations, or software systems.
Examples
phone.device.eth
laptop.device.eth
robot.device.eth
server.device.eth
Examples are illustrative only. Interpretation is left to consuming systems.
Status
Non-Goals
Device Registry does not define standards, replace vendor device management, enforce permissions or security models, or claim authority over implementations.
The registry exists to name devices — nothing more.
About
Device Registry is maintained to document and preserve a simple naming convention for device identity on Ethereum. As systems increasingly separate human intent from execution environments, having a neutral way to reference devices becomes useful for security, delegation, and auditability. This project exists to make that abstraction explicit and available, without asserting standards, enforcing behavior, or claiming ownership over implementations. Stewardship is intentionally minimal and focused on keeping the namespace stable, clearly defined, and easy to reference over time.
